have to have enough link juice to overwhelm the volume and quality of
your competitor's backlinks, and any other seo advantage they may have,

Recommended High Volume/Low-No PR Backlinks My experience with profile backlinks is that a large volume of these may (or may not) get indexed initially, but fall out of Google's index just as quick, and does harm as well as good, since Google gives more ranking to websites with a growing velocity of backlinks going up, and rankings take just as quick of a plunge when some of those backlinks start to disappear (within days or weeks). So, unless you have a "backlink the backlinks" program to have profile links stick in the index, avoid them for large volume/low PR backlinks. I use and recommend a high percent original content spin of article submissions (via Article Wizard with The Best Spinner), and blog comments within your niche. Forum posts and Yahoo Answers are also good consistent source of backlinks. Although the latter is nofollow, I know from experience that Google passes a little link juice. And it is diversity of backlinks, not link juice we are achieving with these low-no PR backlinks. So don't worry about no-follow or PR in these backlinks. We just need them to get and stay indexed in Google.
